- Mash tun – where the barley malt is steeped to extract the starches and enzymes from the grains to convert them to sugars
- Crushed barley malt
- Lautering – draining the sweet wort from the mash tun
- Kids supervising the lauter
- Preparing sparge water – water used to rinse the grain. This is also where the wort is boiled.
